Times launches on Android tablet as Guardian iPad and Facebook editions take off

The Times launched their Android tablet version today, almost 17 months after the launch of their iPad edition.

The Times website announced, “Like our iPad edition, our Android version combines the best of The Times journalism with the interactivity of your tablet, including enhanced graphics, stunning picture galleries and exclusive videos.”

Mobile Marketing reports that Android remains the most popular smartphone platform in the UK, with 30% of smartphone users, up from 28% in March. 27% of smartphone users own an iPhone, compared to 26% in the first quarter of the year. RIM is in third place with 19% compared to 14% in March.

Nokia, Microsoft join to build the “3rd mobile ecosystem”

Nokia and Microsoft announced today that they are to form a broad strategic alliance to create what they describe as the ‘third mobile ecosystem’.
